NDT Specialists serves a variety of industries all over the country using the various methods of non-destructive testing. We have vast experience in many different areas as well as with many different types of parts. Typical items inspected are: castings, weldments, pipes, tanks/pressure vessels, sintered metal products and manufactured items just to name a few.

Castings

Your casting can be inspected for discontinuities in order to comply with many different inspection criteria. Our facilities can handle small items weighing as little as a few ounces to larger items weighing in excess of 50 tons. We have the capacity to handle the small one or two piece projects or the larger projects with thousands of pieces.

First Article Inspections

You can be assured that we at NDT Specialists will help you during your first article inspection. We have experience with many agencies and inspectors and our expertise will ensure this process runs smoothly. Our flexibility will allow outside inspectors access as needed or required to meet your schedule.

Pressure Vessels

NDT Specialists extensive experience in the pressure vessel market will prove to be invaluable to you. We have the ability to x-ray up to 7½” thick at your location or up to 15” in our large capacity lab. We can process film remotely on set or in our facility. We have the experience and capabilities necessary to help guide you through the complex inspection codes and keep your project on time and within budget.

Weld Quality

NDT Specialists understands how important weld quality is and has vast experience in many different applications. We also do welder certification on test plates and coupons, as well as inspection on the welds of boilers, tanks, castings and other items to ensure soundness and quality.

Metal Fabrication & Welding Applications

Fabricators use our services to locate discontinuities in weldments and other areas. Searching for flaws and defects in different areas such as: joints for lack of bond, wrought products looking for laminations, pipelines to assure high quality welded joints and to meet public safety standards as well as many other critical areas.

Foundry Applications

NDT Specialists can use inspection services to detect discontinuities formed in the casting process. Some types of discontinuities are shrinkage, Gas holes, Gas porosity, sand inclusions, cracks, hot tears, misruns, etc. We can inspect items as small as a pea and up to 60 tons at our large capacity lab, which can handle items as large as 16’ x 16’.

Powdered Metals

Powder metals can be inspected via magnetic particle and or x-ray. Powdered metal products generally do not lend themselves to liquid penetrant inspection due to their porous nature.

Metals

The various properties of metals allow them to be sorted and/or inspected. These properties include but are not limited to: alloy, size, inherent discontinuities, shape, and hardness.

Plastics

Plastic manufacturers use x-ray to look for internal discontinuities. They also may use liquid penetrant looking for cracks and/or voids.

Food & Non Industrial Applications

Food producers use our testing services, such as x-ray, to see if their product could be contaminated, to locate missing pieces of broken equipment in a product, or check equipment for cracks and other defects.

Legal Applications

Many times an item or what is left of an item needs to be evaluated with out disturbing its final shape. X-ray can be a very useful tool in these types of cases. For example after a fire, an investigator may want to see what electrical connections are intact in the remaining material to see if they can determine if it was the cause of the fire. In a product liability case an investigator may want to make a comparison of new items to show any inherent defects.

Prototypes

In advanced prototyping nondestructive testing of the item may reveal possible problems or short falls long before final production designs are approved.

Government Standards

Many government projects may require outdated or obsolete specifications and standards to be used in the inspection of various items. NDT Specialists has many of these standards available in our extensive library and would most likely be able to accommodate your needs.

NDT Specialists has many of the current industry specifications available for many different industries. This helps to ensure that the specification you need your work completed to will be available, so that your work can be done as quickly as possible.

Safety

We can inspect many items to your safety standards to help insure that they are in compliance with the current OSHA standards possibly preventing an accident or injury. Typical items inspected range from crane hooks and forklift blades to dearation tanks and air receivers.
